What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that works by stimulating the seven thousand plus nerve endings found in either the feet and hands. A typical treatment will take one hour during this time each reflex will be worked, clearing blockages, stimulating and relaxing where required.

Relaxation & Health

Reflexology can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing by reducing stress in people’s lives and can be key in optimising good health and building resilience. Reflexology is a complementary therapy that can be used safely alongside allopathic healthcare.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy is an immersive experience that uses traditional instruments such as gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, drum, flute and tuning forks. Sound can help shift thinking patterns, reduce anxiety and pain and optimise the body’s healing state.

Restorative Massage

Restorative massage uses a yogic technique that works on 12 nerve rich points around the body which are massaged in a particular sequence. These points when stimulated activate the sympathetic nervous system and the recipient enters a deep state of relaxation. The recipient is fully clothed throughout therefore loose clothing is required.

frequently asked questions...

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different and the response to reflexology can be immediate or sometimes take longer than one treatment, but often benefits can be seen after 4-5 sessions. Regular treatments are best for the body properly beginning the self-healing process. Following an initial consultation I will suggest a treatment plan.

What happens in a treatment?

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, ankles or hands, so the most you’ll have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers! During the treatment the client lies on their back on a reclining couch, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm.

And don’t worry – reflexology doesn’t tickle! Many clients come to me with ticklish feet or worried about their feet being touched, but find they relax and enjoy the benefits of reflexology.

Does reflexology hurt?

You might find some areas feel sensitive , but reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way something like a sports massage might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, the temperature and colour. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body – as reflected through your feet – require more care and attention.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists cannot diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we receive ‘feedback’ from reflexes as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not. Sometimes reflexology will highlight a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point indicates this I can discuss with you at the end of the session.

What are your fees & availability?

A treatment usually last 60 minutes and costs start at £44 per session.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment by card, or cash.

Can I keep on having reflexology?

After an initial course of treatment many people choose to continue to return regularly to maintain their general wellbeing and manage stress. Other clients will get back in touch if they start feeling aches and pains, arranging treatments as and when they need them.
